Pick-Me-Ups of the Week #5
Well, Blogworld, the greatest time of the week has come - Pick-Me-Ups. Desperate times call for desperate measures, because as I sit here, my body weak, tired and in tremendous pain from some cold I got somehow, I am in desperate desperate need for a Pick-Me-Up. I don't know about you, but summer is starting off pretty darn slowly. I'm pretty nervous about what is to come. The advice from everyone who can tolerate my complains and my nervous breakdowns is always the same: "Stop fucking worrying."
And they're right. I worry soooooooooooooooo fucking much. If it was that easy to turn off my brain and stop worrying - trust me I would flick that switch in a jiffy. But I know I worry because I care. and I care a whoooole lot - and with a whoooole lot of care, comes a whoooole lot of worry. I may not be able to turn off the worry, but I'm sure I can distract myself for a moment or two. That's what Pick-Me-Ups are for, they're fragments of hope. They keep us going and turn pain and worry into faith and determination. Les go.

New York City is truly the city of magic. It's been there for me whenever I'm sad and whenever I'm happy. It's a place of great adventure and also is really really fucking expensive. I've made so many memories here. I've gotten lost with my best friend and together we've seen so many beautiful miracles. Here is one of those rare miracles. We stood here, on top of the Empire State Building and saw a blood moon. Yes, a blood moon - a blood moon that only happens every two years. Every two years!
New York City is also amazing in the way that it's organised. It's like a giant waffle iron - filled with fluffy, tasty goodness but also lined in the way of the grooves from the waffle iron. I like that about New York, that you can go so many different ways and still make it to the point you're trying to get to. New York is a city where you can dream - It's a city where I will hold onto so many memories. Memories that could never be stained.

Luke is my best friend. You know, we've been through a lot of shit. We've been through a lot of hate. We're young. We are scared. We don't know what we're doing - and you know what - it's okay if things don't work out. Because throughout it all - your best friend is supposed to love you no matter what you do. Get yourself a best friend who calls you when you're sad. Get yourself a best friend who drinks the Pink Drink with you even though all your friends shit on you for it. Get yourself a best friend who doesn't get mad at you even when you get both of you lost and late to an epic game he paid for. Get yourself a best friend who is willing to go on adventures with you. Get yourself a best friend who can burp and fart in front of you. Get yourself a best friend who can see you ugly-cry and stand your punches when you're being bullied and tickled to death. Get yourself a best friend who always stands up for you. Get yourself a best friend who at the end of the day, makes you laugh and your heart happy. Get yourself a best friend who forgives. Forgiving to not only you, but the people around them. Get yourself a best friend who at the end go the day, puts your happiness in front of their own. Someone that pushes you to be the best person you can be and calls you out when you're doing something wrong. Someone who keeps you grounded. Yeah the future is fucking terrifying, yeah I don't know what the heck I'm doing - but get yourself a best friend who understands that you need to find yourself, that you need to explore the world and figure out who you want to be. Get yourself a best friend who believes in you. But most importantly, believes in themselves, in love, in happiness and truly believes in your friendship.
That my friends is the key to a happy happy life.
You're never alone.
- teeny, tiny & terrified.

This is my biggest weakness. The world is a beautiful place, and you place so much trust in the people around you. You put so much pressure to be just as good, to be better than the people you know - who in your eyes could only be perfect. You try to compete, but you face the reality - you will never be good enough. You see beauty in everyone and everything - except for yourself. You feel ugly, powerless and never enough - and that's terribly lonely. I am a good person. I tell myself this everyday. I strive to be good and I strive to choose good everyday. I believe that good and kindness will always defeat evil. I believe that God has molded me to become one of His fighters, and I believe He has big plans for me. The bible tells us to "love your neighbours as yourself". When I first read this, I always believed that "as yourself" was a way of the Bible telling us that everyday, we mainly focus on ourselves, that there is this selfishness that comes with it. However, as I read these words again and again, I realise that God means "as yourself" as "As you should also love yourself". Hurt people hurt others. We hurt people because we are insecure, because we don't love ourselves. God wants us to love the people that are around us and also take care of ourselves. He wants us to love every inch of our body, and be kind to ourselves. I believe I'm going to change the world. I believe that one day, I will find beauty within, and I hope one day I can love myself just like how I love everyone around me, and I hope I can love myself how God loves me.
